Water Polo
Actively participating in Northwood HS Water Polo since freshman year as winger. Elevated to Junior-Varsity level, in which we achieved second in our league with a record of 7 to 3. Likely to be Varsity level senior year.
Swim
Been swimming since childhood and swam competitively since 6th grade with Irvine Swim League and at Northwood HS Swim freshman year at fresh/soph level, where the team won first in the state. Volunteering as coach at Irvine Swim League since 2018 and Red Cross Safety certified to be a swim coach.
Irvine Swim League (ISL) — Established in 1985: a nonprofit league of 22 neighborhood swim teams with over 2700 total swimmers.
Volunteered at Park Paseo Northstars, one of the original five teams in ISL since 1985, consisting of 130 swimmers. Accumulated around 400 volunteer hours since 2018. Coached in and out of the water with children ranging from 5 to 15 and at skill levels ranging from competitive swimmers to those scared of the water helping them prepare and improve for competition against other teams. Also developed algorithm to automatic the process of tracking and rewarding swimmer progress in order to encourage swimmers. Also designed informational and promotional flyer to advertise swim team
Association for India’s Development (AID) — Founded in 1991: a nation-wide nonprofit charitable organization that promotes and supports sustainable, equitable, and just development of the underprivileged in India.
Helped setup and run major fundraising event in 2019, Holi on the Beach, for Los Angeles/Orange County Chapter attended by over 5000 people over 2 days
First Lego League
Coached local robotics team in 2019
Also when younger, more on that in Experiences
Viola player since 4th grade
Performed with School Orchestra at multiple locations
Played and recorded at Disneyland with school orchestra
Made into 2nd highest school orchestra
Unfortunately, couldn’t join it because of scheduling conflicts
Elected member of student forum
Voted and provided feedback on school activities
Participated for 2 years
At Wirz Research Group at the UCLA Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Specifically, UCLA Plasma & Space Propulsion Laboratory (PSPL)
Worked on alignment of electrospray thrusters
Electrospray thrusters will be used on the upcoming NASA and ESA LISA mission
Goal is to increase the lifetime from 2,500 hours to 60,000 hours
Partnership with JPL and PSPL
Used image analysis and recognition to determine misalignment of emitter in thruster
Currently, designed for manual use, but eventual automation in the future
Used Python and OpenCV to analyze and process images
Work presented at JPL
Using machine learning and neural networks to classify and predict states of the thruster
Current project
Modelled and performed data analysis using logistic regression based on SIR model
Extracted COVID19 data from numerous locations
Used Python to analyze data and provide server backend
Used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to present data easily
Predicted future COVID19 cases based on previous case trend
Trained Neural Network to predict future cases
Used Python and Keras for Machine Learning and server backend
Used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to present data
Standalone Module — No dependencies
Can do basic mathematical functions to algebra and calculus
Has some ability to do symbolic mathematics
Mostly written in Python
Uses C to create fast extensions
Created to find accomplished swimmers easier and reward them
Created program to scrape swimmer data off difficult to access website
Combined data into readable format and processed it to identify swimmers
Uses Python to scrape, clean, and process data
